After a great season last year, boys volleyball is back on the court.
The Ojai Valley School boys volleyball team got their first win of the season yesterday against Hillcrest Christian Academy. After a hard battle, the boys took the victory winning 3-1.
The first set was intense, with both teams rallying back and forth. OVS was down by 6 points but their teamwork and fast thinking allowed them to come back, winning the set 30- 28.
The team lost the second set but played hard to win the third and fourth sets to finish the game.
Sophomore Oliver Ayala has been playing volleyball for two years now and he loves the team and the process.
“It felt good we got to put pretty much everyone in the game,” said Oliver Ayala. “It was nice to put the newer people in and still get the win.”
The boys play again last Friday against Highland Hall in Los Angeles.
Friday’s game was a demolishing demonstration by the OVS boys volleyball. The final score was 3-0 and the boys left the gym with their heads high and their second consecutive win of the season.
“We were so dominant that the whole team got to play,” said senior Eugene Fisher, “It was a great team performance, and it was fun to get two straight wins.”

Two new members of the team, Maximilian Berninger and Oliver Jones, played this game. This might have been their first game, but they meshed well with the team, helping them win the whole thing.
Highland Hall had a lead in the first set due to some OVS mistakes, but they worked together to pull ahead and win the set. The next two sets were fluid and dominant, not letting their opponents get a foot in.
“The team’s energy and everyone were positive, bringing the team performance up,” said Eugene. “It makes me excited to see what we can do for the rest of the season.”
The boys play at Hillcrest Christian Academy again on Thursday.
