Ukranian senior Bohdan Cherkai has been deeply affected by the Russo-Ukrainian war, but he maintains a positive attitude and takes advantage of every opportunity that comes his way.
The newly introduced Mayor's Youth Council gives OVS students and other high-schoolers the opportunity to learn more about local politics, to be a voice for Ojai’s youth, and to effect change in the community.
This spring, the Upper Campus is experiencing a surge of monarch caterpillars, and recent efforts to expand their habitat promise to dramatically increase the numbers in subsequent seasons.
Last weekend, Ojai Valley School lower campus hosted the “Coexisting With Wildlife in the Ojai Valley” event, in which wildlife experts promoted peaceful coexistence with and respect for their animal neighbors. The panel was dedicated to addressing public concerns, and the organizers felt equally as grateful for their engaged and receptive audience.
Though delayed by the Thomas Fire and the pandemic, Ms. Davis’ project was to create predator boxes. The seniors built these boxes alongside the help of Doug Colborn and other teachers. The use of these boxes will impact Ojai Valley School for years to come.
