Ojai Valley School’s baseball team opened the season last Thursday with tough play in a 1-0 loss to Villanova Prep.
The game was a pitching duel, as neither team scored an earned run.
For the OVS squad, it was the first game for half the players, as the team has had to rebuild after losing several veteran players from last year.
Some players such as senior Jacob Morris and sophomore Archer Moller played their first games as catcher. Senior Jay Galgano picked up the only hit for the Spuds and helped lead the team in energy.
“It was a tough loss but it was great seeing the young players putting themselves out there and I’m excited to see the future of the team,” starting pitcher Archer Moller said.
The baseball team’s next game is March 24 at home at 3:30 p.m. against Gorman Learning Center.
