Though delayed by the Thomas Fire and the pandemic, Ms. Davis’ project was to create predator boxes. The seniors built these boxes alongside the help of Doug Colborn and other teachers. The use of these boxes will impact Ojai Valley School for years to come.

OVS faculty and administrators have worked to address the rise of AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT, which can generate high school- and college-level essays at the click of a button.  

Recent playoff runs by the OVS girls and boys basketball teams pointed up the long-stated need to build a gym at the Upper Campus as a way of boosting athletics, admissions and fan support.

Three years after the pandemic began, international travel has begun to recover as many countries lifted restrictions. At the beginning of 2023, three mid-year students, including Emily, became part of the OVS community. Recognizing the need to provide additional support to incoming international students, OVS decided to restart the ESL program.

Continuing a long-standing tradition, Ojai Valley School has launched a woodshop program at the Upper Campus, allowing high school students to explore a discipline that until now had only been available to their counterparts at the Lower Campus.

Earlier this month, the Gene Haas Foundation awarded a $4,000 grant to support the OVS Robotics program. This is the largest of a handful of donations solicited by the robotics students this year.
