To commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, OVS students on the Upper and Lower campuses tackled a number of community service projects close to home and out at sea.
Behind the Grace Hobson Smith House, three rock garden beds have already been built, holding the promise of pumpkins, beans, and corn.
Right now it’s a three man operation, with Spanish and AP Environmental Science teacher Steve Risser, sophomore Tristan Phelps and junior Sean Wu.
Due to Covid-19, many students from the class of 2020 were unable to attend their colleges in person for their freshman year. However, those perseverant students didn’t let the circumstances discourage them.
The wait only made them more thrilled to finally be at their school.
Many teachers agree that animals on campus are good for the community’s physical and mental health. They are cute, cuddly and everything in between. Pets not only keep students mentally healthy, but they keep them exercising and moving when we need it most.
