Ojai Valley Schools’ boys’ soccer team suffered a tough loss against San Jacinto Leadership Academy in the first round of CIF.
The boys fought through the rain but lost 1-10, with senior Kai Ishikawa scoring an amazing goal for OVS.
“It was really cold and miserable, but we fought hard and amazed their coaches,” said senior Jay Galgano
Austin Fan, the team’s goalkeeper, made the most saves he’s made all season, turning away well over 20 goal attempts against the tough offense the boys’ team faced on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Soccer coach Adam Woll said he was proud of the work his players put in all season, and that he was especially pleased by the leadership of seniors Kai Ishikawa, Jay Galgano, Jacob Morris, Joe Zhao, Leroy Shen and Darian Shen.
“The boys worked incredibly hard,” Coach Woll said. “The team relied on the guidance and leadership of the more experienced players, which raised the level of the team as a whole. The team dominated games and showed consistently good sportsmanship.”
