For OVS juniors Hannah Little and Tigran Nahabedian, recent service work on the Channel Islands was a homecoming of sorts: the two were members of the first OVS elementary school class to perform island restoration work as part of the school’s Hands On the Land program.

Behind the Grace Hobson Smith House, three rock garden beds have already been built, holding the promise of pumpkins, beans, and corn. Right now it’s a three man operation, with Spanish and AP Environmental Science teacher Steve Risser, sophomore Tristan Phelps and junior Sean Wu.

A larger than usual number of students are receiving early admission to colleges. As of November 1, four students had already heard good news from their prospective schools, with some already earning admission to their top-choice schools.
