Vincent Bell, a motivated senior, has decided to take on the intimidating role of becoming president of the Ojai Valley School. He has devoted himself to the students around him and is excited to make a difference.
Vince Bell was inspired to become president by his good friend, Teni, the president of Ojai Valley School last year. He was also inspired by his old friend Ben Manning, president in 2023-24. Vince wants to see what he can bring to the table.
“Last year, my friend Teni was president, being near him and seeing who he was and how he did in student council really inspired me.” He said, expressing appreciation.
Joli Ruby, coach of girls’ and boys’ volleyball and math teacher. Also, a new addition to the OVS student council takes on the role of advisor. Mrs. Ruby believes that Vince can take on the initiative with things around campus, not just in the student council, but also with things that need to be done.
“Vince starts doing things without even needing to be asked, which I think is a great quality.”
Ms. Ruby proudly says.
Ms. Ruby believes that students should start becoming more proactive with the school. She wants them to be able to get their ideas running. Instead of giving out ideas, she wants the students to take the initiative to come up with them, which she declares will make the community stronger.
Vince’s main goal as president is to help students feel more welcome in the OVS community. When he was a freshman, there was a mentorship program, which inspired him and helped him adjust.
Vince also hopes that he will leave an impact at OVS and try to give back what the school has given him throughout his four years. From doing cross country for sports, motivating his friends, and helping the students with community service, he wants to give back.
“You know, I can never guarantee that I’ll leave an impact, but I hope I do,” Vince says.
Participating in the student council has been a very good experience for Vince, and he is a determined and strong president for the Ojai Valley School.
