A new year and a new sports season has begun at the Ojai Valley School Upper Campus, with a wide variety of sports being offered this fall including girls volleyball, flag football, cross country, equestrian and golf.
The year started off strong with multiple games. In the first flag football game, the team put in their all but walked away with a defeat to Newbury Park Adventist. However, in the second game of the season, the flag football team was able to secure a victory over Westmark, bringing the team’s record to one win and one loss.
Along with a flag football game, girls volleyball has taken part in two intense, nail-biting game. The first was against Glendale Adventist, where the volleyball squad was able to come out on top after a 3-hour-long game that came down to a two-point difference.
Volleyball starter Annie Heinemann was very pleased with the results.
“It was actually a really good start to the season, especially compared to last year,” she said.
The girls then fought against Hillcrest Christian, where they sadly came out with a loss, leaving the girls with one win and one loss as well.
With a current 50% win rate for both teams, it will be interesting to watch how girl volleyball and flag football develop and improve throughout the season.
