It was a sight to behold.
Starting at about 11 a.m. on Wednesday, wind-driven snow flurries began whipping through the Upper Campus, sparking surprise and delight for a student and teacher population unaccustomed to such an uncommon weather occurrence.
Snow fell for about two hours, drawing Upper Campus denizens out of their classrooms to video the phenomenon and bask in the wonders of true winter weather. The unexpected snow storm made its way to the Lower Campus in the early afternoon.
It has been about a decade since it last snowed at the Upper Campus, and more than 40 years since it snowed enough for the white stuff to accumulate on the ground.
While Tuesday’s snowfall appeared heavy at times, the flakes melted as soon as they hit campus. But for two hours, it was exciting to have an unforgettable winter experience.
