A few weeks ago, junior Min Lee walked into Studio Art carrying his sketchbook, and showed his teacher, Mandy Beverly, a piece on which he had been working.
It was a drawing of a knight on horseback, done in pencil and black pen.
As soon as Mrs. Beverly saw it, she realized it fit perfectly with the theme of this years musical, Monty Robin And The Men In Tights (Search For The Holy Grail).
Because of its synchronicity with the upcoming musical, Mrs. Beverly asked him if his drawing could be used as the cover art for the production, which opens Thursday, Feb. 20 at the Lower Campus and concludes the next day.
Of course, he said yes.
“I’m happy that my art is going to be the cover,” Min said. “It gives me confidence in my art skills.”
Min is in his second year of art. Having completed Drawing I previously, he is now in Studio Art.
In Studio Art, students complete a full investigation of many mediums, including pen and ink, acrylic painting, water color, collage, photography, mixed medium collage, and fashion and costume design.
“Min’s work is intricate and precise,” Mrs. Beverly said. “He is a fine artist and he is such a pleasure to have in my class. Look for his drawing on the front of the musical program.”
