The winter sports season at OVS has come to an end.
After advancing to CIF, both the boys soccer and basketball teams suffered first-round playoff losses on Feb. 11
Boys soccer fell to the California Academy of Math and Science by a score of 3-2. Trailing by three late in the game the Spuds had quick scores from sophomore Emma Watanabe and junior Hyunung Choi, but were unable to force a tie.
The Spuds will be able to return many of their starters and will be poised to make another run for a league title and a playoff appearance in the ‘22/’23 season.
“Coming off a winning season we have a lot of potential to repeat our success,” said junior Logan Wallace
Boys basketball had a roadtrip to Fontana where they faced off against the #1 ranked Fontana Steelers.
The Spuds put up a valiant effort but would ultimately fall short, with a final score 90-28 in favor of the Steelers. The highlight of the game was when sophomore Sullivan Rothwell banked in a three point shot while the clock expired in the fourth quarter.
“Even though it was a tough loss for the boys, it was a happy note to go out on when Sully achieved one of his goals for the season,” said senior Logan Daily.
The Spuds showed great effort, heart, and hustle throughout the winter sports season, which led to on-court/field success.
