Adelynn Todd is steadfast about her Senior Capstone.
Addie, in addition to the 29 other seniors, is preparing a presentation that centers on retraining the horses from OVS Lower Campus, so they can gain the confidence to be ridden by the future riders.
“Working with and training the lower horses absolutely makes me a better rider,” Addie said.
Addie has gone to OVS for three years now and has finally found her place in the equestrian program. She has been riding for 12 years and is an exceptional rider.
In the past she has stuck to the hunter jumpers, but is branching off this year to be an open dressage rider and team captain for the IEA team lead by George Halkett.
Seniors at OVS, as a graduation requirement, are asked to present their interests and how they connect to what they learned at school. Addie has chosen to focus on her equestrian career.
At the moment, she is working with one of the Lower Campus ponies named Sadie. They are making quick progress to get her ready to go back to Lower Campus and teach more kids to be the best they can.
Alex Metz, an Upper Campus equestrian instructor and Addie’s Capstone advisor, is confident in Addie and her abilities to train these horses. She believes Addie is giving these ponies a positive second chance to get them back on track.
“Addie is an enthusiastic rider with a lot of potential,” Mrs. Metz
