The Ojai Valley School boys basketball teams had their Green Wave Day last week with an amazing turnout of supporters for the squads from Upper and Lower campuses.
Dozens of students, teachers and parents crammed into the Matilija Gym to cheer on the teams.
The OVS middle school team beat Oak Grove by a score of 45-28, with seventh-grader Holden Myers leading the way with 18 points in the first half.
The OVS high school team then took the stage, taking down Beacon Hill with a final score of 55-41 over Beacon Hill.
The high school boys showed their resilience, bouncing back from a tough loss the night before.
“They battled hard and showed that they were learning how to manage the pace of the game,” boys basketball coach Michael Cvetich said.

Coach Cvetich had many people to shout out, including Harry and Edward Ying, who kept the team in the game.
Junior Russell Zhuang had three 3-pointers — including a four-point play — for a total of 16 points. Sophomore Archer Moller played tough defense and earned hard-earned points in the key.
“We are a young team,” Mr. Cvetich said, “but we are showing signs of maturity and growth.”
The Green Wave game was the brainchild of Upper Campus Athletic Director Hank Pankratz and Lower Campus basketball coach Nick Almanza, both of who were thrilled with the turnout.
“School spirit was on full display, and our home crowd really showed up to support the team,” Mr. Almanza said.
