OVS runners came away with four medals this weekend at the Bellarmine-Sacred Heart Invitational at Griffith Park.
Varsity runners Kai Ishikawa and Russell Zhuang came in 20th and 47th respectively, earning medals in their division. The OVS team came in 9th out of 16 varsity teams at the invitational, which drew more than 100 high school cross country teams from across the CIF Southern Section.
“I think our team performed very well this weekend at the invitational,” said senior captain Kai Ishikawa. “Everyone gave their best effort in their race.”
In the frosh-soph race, freshmen Cash Vera (28th) and Jael Garcia (44th) came away with medals, which went to the top 50 who finished the tough, hilly three-mile course. The frosh-soph race had 159 participants, making it one of the largest races on the day.
OVS cross country is back in action on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. Omega League meet back at Griffith Park.
