In a first for Ojai Valley School, all three competitive winter sports teams at the Upper Campus will be in action this week in CIF play.
Girls basketball, boys basketball and boys soccer all have playoff games, and two of those are at home, which will allow students, parents and other supporters to show up and cheer on the Spuds.
Boys soccer will host a Wild Card play-in game on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 3 p.m. at Dok Smith Field at the Upper Campus. OVS finished the season with an overall record of 10-3, earning the co-Omega League championship. The Spuds will take on the Cobalt Institute of Math and Science, which finished third in Cross Valley League play with an overall record of 8-4-1.
Later Tuesday, OVS girls basketball will make its first-ever CIF appearance when it hosts The Buckley School from Sherman Oaks in a Wild Card game. That game will be held at the Thacher School gymnasium, with a start time of 7 p.m. Per CIF, tickets must be purchased for admission. Click here to purchase.
The winners of the wild card games will move onto the first round of CIF play.
On Wednesday, the boys basketball team will compete in Round 1 of the CIF playoffs, traveling to Midland School for a 7 p.m. game. Last year, the boys made a CIF appearance and won their first-ever playoff game.
“I am excited to see all three winter teams qualifying for the playoffs,” said senior Ethan Chen, who is captain of the boys basketball team and athletic representative to Student Council. “I remain optimistic and anticipate our teams to compete with the best.”
