It’s crazy how fast things change…

From an array of wooden structures to a cohesive concrete masterpiece, Ojai Valley School’s Littlefield Student Commons, Grace Hobson Smith House dormitory, and Aramont Science and Technology Center are nearing completion.
The buildings have successfully made it through the major construction phase and have entered into the refinement process.
“I haven’t been up here in a couple weeks,” said Head of School Craig Floyd on a recent tour of the new facilities. “It’s just an incredible transformation to happen in just a few short weeks and everything is really coming together right now.”
The progress is apparent everywhere, from the newly added large steel cross beams that stretch over finished outdoor walkways in the Aramont Science and Technology Center to the vision of student life harnessed in uninstalled water fountains scattered throughout the new structures.
Beautiful and vibrant pink, green and blue doors have been added to the Science and Technology Center and girls dorm. Each door entrance is accented with a simple door overhang that adds a homey twist on the modern architecture.
The once rickety wooden steps used for construction in the Commons building have been removed, revealing a clean, almost finished dining room with a straight dark red steel staircase leading to the second floor.

The wind tunnel that was just a mere wooden schute has now been transformed with dark red benches and an elevated concrete tiled floor. As always, the million dollar view of the Ojai Valley is showcased at every turn. .
Construction workers still buzz about the future picnic area, situated outside of the Commons building, laying down framing, preparing for the very last of the concrete to be poured. A few feet away, silver refrigerators, the elevator and the ice cream machine sit outside of the sliding glass doors of the Commons, awaiting their installation.
“We’re so close,” Mr. Floyd said.
