For the second year in a row, members of OVS’s award-winning journalism crew took part in a day-long workshop aimed at sharpening their skills and expanding their knowledge of the journalism field.
Joined at the Soule Park Golf Course by dozens of high school journalists from across Ventura County, the OVS students explored various facets of the craft from professional writers, photographers and editors at the event sponsored by the Tri-County Journalism Educators Assn.
In the past several years, the OVS journalism program has been recognized as among the best in the region, wracking up awards in a number of live-writing competitions.
“Hearing the speakers gave us a sense of how journalism works in the real world,” said senior Natasha Freudmann, editor in chief of the campus newspaper, On The Hill.
