OVS cross country boys’ and girls’ teams emerged victorious in their first Omega League meet of the season.
Held at Newbury Park Adventist Academy on Wednesday, the boys had a strong showing, led by senior Logan Wallace who took second place and sophomore Shuhei Kotani who came in fourth. Juniors Ben Manning and Emanuel Zagata-Jacobson took sixth and seventh respectively, while sophomore Andrew Little rounded out the scoring, finishing in 10th place overall in his first-ever cross country race.
On the girls side, sophomore Prudence Currey-Schafer, in her first high school cross country race ever, earned a first place finish, while junior Elizabeth Ramsay — a two sport athlete this fall — took second place.
It was a good first outing for the runners, many of whom trained throughout the summer for the fall cross country season.
“We were relaxed and prepared when we showed up and it really showed on the course,” Ben Manning said. “Everyone was cheering each other on when we saw each other and ultimately ended up crushing the other teams.”
The OVS runners will host the next Omega League race on September 28 at 4 p.m. at the Upper Campus.
