The Winter sports season has officially kicked off, with the first games and scrimmages being held this week.
The sports that are being offered are boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, equestrian, and weight training. Of those, Upper Campus Athletic Director Hank Pankratz said he is most excited to see the turnout for girls soccer, as that sport has suffered from low signups in recent years.
“I’m happy to see the girls compete in the new sports this season,” Mr. Pankratz said.
The girls soccer team will kick off the season Wednesday, Nov. 13, by hosting Nordhoff High School at Dok Smith Field.
The boys soccer team has gained more players this season, and with the new strategies from Coach Adam Woll the team is in hope to return to CIF playoffs again.
“Mr. Woll has lots of players this year,” Mr. Pankratz said. I’m excited to see how they’re going to compete again as student athletes.”
With two new coaches for boys and girls basketball, players on those teams are looking forward to returning to CIF playoffs again.
Both Boys and girls basketball are scheduled to tip off Dec. 4 against Villanova Prep.
