From Court to Classroom

OVS English teacher Terry Wilson, fascinated by a New York Times article, assigned her AP students reading from a court case involving racist teenagers. Those teenagers were required to read well-known books, including Reading Lolita in Tehran, that explore the issue of racism and discrimination in society.

Battle of the Bands

OVS students recently participate in the Ojai Valley Relay for Life Battle of the Bands, a benefit concert to raise money for the Ojai event. OVS freshman Avery Colborn (left) took first place in the epic battle, while seventh grader Beckett McDowell took third place.

OVS Honored for Environmental Excellence

In recognition of its long-standing commitment to environmental conservation, preservation and sustainability, Ojai Valley School has been named a California Green Ribbon School, the state’s top honor for environmental excellence in education.

OVS alum Carolita Landers fell in love in high school. It was with her horse Kronos. And now the two have been reunited in Colorado, where Carolita is a junior at Colorado State University

Even though he was teaching a generation of kids who don’t rely on classic clocks to tell time, guest artist Chuck Burright recently reminded students at the Lower Campus about the value of time, helping them construct their own, creative timepieces.
