Tuesdays Are Dog Days

This year, the Humane Society Program has 18 OVS students who have already done their training and have a one-year commitment to the program. This is the highest number of OVS volunteers in the past 10 years, and two vans will be taking students to the shelter every Tuesday.

Weaving Love Together

Few school clubs provide a stronger sense of gratitude and community than that of junior Megan Manion’s Zanmi Club, which is a community service opportunity that helps women in Haiti.

Denim with a Porpoise

Just in time for the annual Relay for Life, junior Avery Colborn has come up with a creative new idea for a fundraiser. Aside from our well-known ceramics and face-paints, this year the OVS booth will be selling stuffed whales.

A Single Thread

Together with her friend Emerson, sophomore Kiana Carlisle has launched a nonprofit organization, called A Single Thread, that will provide girls in foster homes with clothes that will give them an outlet to empower themselves and give them the freedom to express themselves through fashion.

Beach Buddies

During the first community service opportunity of the school year, OVS students of all ages embarked on a beach cleanup trip. The outing allowed students to help local wildlife while also learning the importance of taking care of the environment.
