The OVS cross country teams ran their first race of the season at a friendly meet at Cate school this Wednesday.
The girls placed as the top team from the Condor league, with seventh through tenth place finishes by junior Jolene Fan, sophomore Bella Slosberg, junior Avery Colborn, and junior Caspian Ellis.
The boys also had strong performances, with junior Corbin Muller and sophomore Ethan Gao leading the way with times close to 22 minutes.
“I’m really pleased with this first race. The girls are stronger than they realize and the boys are coming together just at the right time,” said coach Fred Alvarez. “I look forward to seeing how the rest of this season unfolds.”
The team will race next Thursday, September 27 at Griffith Park in a non-league meet with the Omega league.
