Ojai Valley School has a long and rich history of soccer being played on it’s field, and this first game of the soccer season was no disappointment.
In the opener last Friday against the Garden Street Academy, OVS came out on top 9-2, with several players contributing to the score.
Within the first 20 minutes of the game the newest edition to the soccer team, Henry Fisher, scored 3 goals and by the end of the game he scored 5 goals.
Juniors Daniel Cha and Niklas Weckerle both scored a goal as well. Senior Peter Weckerle scored two goals.
OVS took control of the game from the start, and got a strong defensive effort from goalie, Faridun Nuraliev, who stopped multiple shots on goal. Usmon Mirzoaliev and beginner Philip Trompke helped to keep the ball on the offensive side of the field.
Everyone who wanted to play got playing time and did well. This was a great display of the talent the soccer team has to offer this year. The next game the fall soccer team will play is against Garden Street again on October 25th at 3pm.
